| OK. So it doesn't hail a new era in cinema making. But this film fits Statham like a boxing glove. Something that no other film to my mind has managed to pull off since Transporter.There's the right quantity and quality of dark humour, sharp dialogue and contrasting personalities - against a sordid yet appealing background - among the fight scenes and damn fine ones at that to make this a well rounded action movie.Those of us who have a penchant for this genre are more often than not disappointed with the result - poor acting, shallow pseudo-intellectualism, mindless bangs and <more> |

| I'm really not sure what people are looking for in a Jason Statham film, but if you are a Statham fan, this should have it. If you go and judge Shakespeare by his fight sequences, or a Statham movie by it's high culture, you will be disappointed in each. This movie has crisp occasionally humorous dialogue, sexy women, intense, really well choreographed fight scenes, some decent characters, and a fairly lightweight plot. | Deserves way more. Why would you watch a Statham flick and whine about the genre? Thid is very well paced. The character is well developed.Its tense and funny. | This movie was so good! The action was unbelievable. The story was great. The dialog was slick. The entire movie had style. Such great fun! Jason was in unbelievable shape... Did he really eat just spinach and brown rice?? That dude I swear... How does he stay in that shape without being a professional body builder.... It's so exhilarating to see a solid, simple story that just makes sense, without any unnecessary twists and turns and extra baggages that somehow always turn stupid in the end like in most other action movies nowadays. | I was in the mood for a nice action movie, and I did not have a lot of expectations for this Jason Statham movie. I have to say it was really entertaining, patient viewers will be rewarded! I was surprised to see the low rating here on IMDb, but I understand this is a "slow- burning" type of movie, not always the best idea for action movies. However, this had a lot of great elements in my opinion.It is not a full-throttle non-stop action type of flick, but the fight scenes are very well executed, especially one fight scene in the Casino. | In a time where fast, flashy movies are most common. With shallow character development, this one stands out as a jewel if you know how to appreciate it.Some might argue this movie develops slowly: For me it gives depth to the movie and creates understanding of the psychology. While the conclusion really leaves you with food for thought. The director seems to explore more of the story and reality in between while you're submerged into pure cinemographic craftmanship; The scenes are beautiful with attention to detail and are credible. | Hm, some times it is hard to understand why movies get such bad reviews and low ratings. OK, it is not that action filled, and the plot may not be the most original what plot is anyway? , but I really enjoyed this movie.Jason Statham makes one of his best performances here, I have to say. | Most people I've asked have a love - hate relationship with this movie. "It is a good movie but it is not a JS level type of movie". So when I've decided to finally see it, my expectations were rather low. Yet, this proved to be an amazing movie, maybe one of his best. Yes, it doesn't have the humor of Crank and he fights far less in this one, compared to his others. But it is a comedy with dark undertones and a moral in the story. It is different. | This is not a run of the mill Statham movie. Yes, it does have his not inconsiderable fight skills, and as usual they are well choreographed and with plenty of bone crunching ferocity. Yet it is a tense thriller it has moments that are very taught and well acted. I was confused at some aspects of this film. We had some great acting talent making cameo roles, such as Stanley Tucci, Jason Alexander, Hope Davis and Max Casella. Why we didn't see more of these people is beyond me.
